The 3 Basic Concepts of Anxiety Symptoms

A person suffering from anxiety can observe several symptoms happening deep inside him. Let’s say you have a phobia with snakes. The anxiety attack usually starts with your thoughts. You might be thinking of how its venom can instantly kill you. Then, your heart starts to beat faster. Suddenly you find yourself backing from the snake and clenching your fist. Although this are all symptoms of anxiety, it can further b broken down into 3 basic concepts. The thoughts you have are followed by a physical reaction in your body and ends with an action or behavior.

The 3 basic concepts of anxiety are:

1) Subjective Reactions. These are thoughts that you have before an anxiety attack sets it. These are often inflated by your emotions. Your thoughts are often affected by the feelings you have such as fear of dying.

2) Physical Reactions. Once your body recognized the fear, your body will start to react. The sample of physical reactions are as follows:

a. Increase in heart rate

b. Dilation of arteries

c. Increase in perspiration

d. Tension in muscles

e. Involuntary discharges of the bladder or bowels

3) Overt Behavior. The person’s behavior instantly changes to cope with the anxiety. These reactions that can easily be noticed by anyone. You don’t need a sophisticated medical instrument to observe these reactions. These are actions that you exhibit when you are experiencing an anxiety attack. An individual who is anxious may show a wide variety of changes in his behavior. Rapid eye blinking, stuttering, restlessness, and hyperactivity are some behavioral changes that might be observed from the person suffering from anxiety spells.
