Anxiety: Signs and Symptoms of Phobia

Not one person is without fear. The lists are endless when it comes to fears. Some people are afraid of heights, snakes, spiders, dying, closed spaces, or even cats. What separates ordinary fear from phobia is how people dealt with it. Phobia is having an irrational fear that disrupts one’s daily life in avoidance of what he fears the most. Here are several symptoms of phobia that can directly affect your lifestyle.

Agoraphobia is the fear of being in a public place. If you have this kind of irrational fear, you are likely to spend your life mostly hidden in the comforts of your own home. You will deliberately avoid going out to public places. A severe case of this is having other people to bring you what you need from the outside world. You pass up on any opportunity to go to parks, malls, and other places. It prevents you from stepping outside your home.
Some people have phobias related to fears of illness. If you are suffering from this kind of phobia, you tend to believe that a small cut in the finger will either drain most of your blood or you ascertain that it will lead to infections. You would likely to avoid things that are unhealthy and avoid putting stress on your body. You are likely to sleep at 6 in the afternoon just to be sure that you have enough sleep.
Another case of extreme phobia is having an obsessive fear that you might kill your own child. No one will feel safe around you and many will stay away from you as a preventive measure. Also, to keep yourself from being tempted, you hide all knives and other things that can potentially be a weapon.
